Photo from postcard of Triangle Diner, circa 1950. This is how the diner originally looked and is our historical model for the restoration.
The historical restoration of The Triangle Diner in Winchester, VA has officially begun. The diner is a classic American diner from 1948. We hope to have the restoration completed by Fall 2010. We (Mike's Triangle Diner Company) purchased the diner in November 2008 and are now carefully and lovingly restoring it to how it originally looked in 1948 using historical photos, interviews, and research. All of the diner's key architectural components are wonderfully preserved and are what makes this project possible.
HAVE ANY OLD PHOTOS OF THE DINER? WE WANT TO SEE THEM!
Please email us if you have information or photos about the diner, we greatly appreciate all information and will reward (with delicious food) everyone who provides us with old photos! If you do not want to 'give' them to us, we are satisfied to just look or to electronically scan them.
PROGRESS UPDATES (RESTORATION / CONSTRUCTION UPDATES): With our research on-going, we are now doing some on-site work in phases. Learn about our construction phases and progress. We are working slowly and carefully since it is a historical structure and we do not want to make any mistakes.
PROGRESS UPDATE: In January 2010, we began Phase 1 of our restoration which includes removing the sloped roof which was added in the 1960s. Our objective is to restore the original 1948 curved, painted copper roof which is underneath the sloped flat roof.
